Overview
The CINAHL database with Knowledge Finder® provides authoritative coverage of the professional literature in nursing and allied health. The database contains ten journal subsets (including nursing journals, core nursing, allied health, consumer health, peer reviewed, and major geographic subdivisions) help to narrow retrieval. Abstracts are available for more than 50% of regularly indexed journal titles, dissertations, educational software, audiovisuals and research instruments. In addition, access to all full-text records published in CINAHL are available in the database.

CINAHL is available for Institutional access only, on CD-ROM and via the internet using Aries' Knowledge Web®.

Advanced Retrieval Technology

Knowledge Finder offers you what may be the most advanced bibliographic retrieval technology available today. Your search statements can include sentence-style natural language queries - you don't need to learn a complex command language. Probabilistic indexing and retrieval algorithms find not only precise matches to your search request, but also "close" and "nearby" matches. Search results are ranked based upon likelihood of relevance to your request, reducing the amount of time you spend scanning search results. Expert search formulation tools simplify the searching process. Intelligent stemming and expansion of search words automatically increase the scope and retrieval of a search. On-screen controls let you define the degree of precision and recall to be applied to a search. You can use all Knowledge Finder retrieval and citation management tools with the CINAHL CD-ROM.

CINAHL Thesaurus

The CINAHL database includes a full implementation of the CINAHL Subject Heading Thesaurus. The CINAHL thesaurus includes many terms from the National Library of Medicine's MeSH thesaurus, including subheadings, explosions and cross-references. In addition, the CINAHL thesaurus greatly enhances the terminology associated with nursing and allied health topics.

CD-ROM Edition
CINAHL is now available on just 1 CD-ROM with Knowledge Finder, and is updated four times per year. The database includes materials from a variety of international sources, and English language entries can be easily selected.

Flexible CD-ROM Subscriptions

CINAHL is for institutional use only, with annual subscriptions available for both single station and network environments. All subscriptions include the CINAHL Subject Heading Thesaurus, Knowledge Finder software and updates, documentation, and telephone support.

'Years of Coverage' and '# of Discs' applies to 1998 edition.
