The Cleveland Clinic Foundation The Cleveland Clinic Foundation is one of the world's first and largest group practices. The Clinic was founded in 1921 by four Cleveland physicians who believed that patients would receive the best possible care when clinical care was combined with research and education. Since its founding, more than two million patients from every state in the nation and more than 80 countries have received care here.

For each of the past six years the magazine, U.S. News & World Report, has recognized the quality of medical care at the Cleveland Clinic by distinguishing it as one of the 10 best hospitals in the United States. There are more than 700 physicians on staff in 100+ specialties and subspecialties, plus more than 700 physicians training in 47 accredited residency programs. More than 10,000 people are employed at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Marian Simonson, Systems Librarian at The Cleveland Clinic, comments:

"This is our second year with providing MEDLINE access through Knowledge Finder over the Internet. We initially signed on with KF at the request of staff members from our Research Institute who were looking for a MEDLINE product with a native Mac interface. Being able to access KF over the Internet was a bonus since we didn't have to invest time and hardware to maintain the files locally. We have also found that the company, Aries Systems Corporation, is very responsive to its clients.

"Although the Library maintains a local server running Ovid, we've been pleased to provide several alternative MEDLINE interfaces. On the Library's public access pcs, we have loaded both the KF and Ovid clients to let our patrons choose the search interface they prefer."
