The installer for EndNote for Windows configures your system to use either MS Internet
Explorer or Netscape Communicator (or Navigator) with Endnote. If EndNote does not
automatically open when you export documents in PC EndNote format, follow these instructions:
MS Internet Explorer 4.0x and 5.0x
Double-click My Computer and select View->Folder Options. On some systems, this command is
listed as Options.
Click the File Types tab. Scroll the file type list until you reach the EndNote
entries. There should be an entry which matches the illustration below. Check the File Type details
section carefully to see that the top line is Extension .ENW, the middle line is MIME type is
application/x-endnote-refer, and the bottom line is Opens with EndNote 3.
If any of these settings do not match, click the Edit button and changes the incorrect values.
Netscape Communicator and Navigator 4.0x and higher
Start Netscape and open the preferences by selecting Edit->Preferences from the menu. Select
Navigator->Applications from the Category column. Scroll through the Applications listing until
you come to the EndNote entries. Select EndNote3 File and compare the File type details with the
picture below.
If any of the settings do not match, click the Edit button and change the incorrect values.
