Overview
MedCite offers
an exciting new family of services to medical authors, editors
and publishers.
With CiteVerify, you can make
citation verification a chore of the past. Simply paste a
bibliography into a Web browser page, send to MedCite,
and receive proofed citations back in seconds or minutes.
If you're a publisher of electronic
content on the Internet, CiteLink lets you incorporate
direct links to MEDLINE®
abstracts into your online bibliographies. After verification,
the returned proofed citation incorporates a link to the corresponding
MEDLINE record and abstract.
Citation
Verification
CiteVerify provides online validation of medical journal
article citations. Paste a citation or even a complete bibliography
into a Web browser page, submit for validation, and within
seconds or minutes, receive back a Web browser report confirming
verified citations. Ambiguous citations are often returned
with one or more possible matching citations. Verification
is performed almost instantaneously at the MedCite
search server. Aries' Knowledge Finder ® fuzzy
logic search technology matches each citation against the
National Library of Medicine's MEDLINE database. This database,
covering 1966 to the present, currently indexes more than
3,800 journals in biomedicine, medicine and healthcare. CiteVerify
can reduce your citation verification workload by up to 50%
or more, saving you time and money, and improving the quality
of your publication.
Abstract
Linking
CiteLink offers on-line Internet medical publishers
the opportunity to dynamically link published bibliographies
to MEDLINE records and abstracts. By providing these links
to their clients, publishers can increase substantially the
value of their original published content. Bibliographies
of electronically published medical journals, textbooks, newsletters
and other intellectual content are first submitted to CiteVerify.
In addition to returning verification data, the returned
materials include a World Wide Web HTTP link to the corresponding
record in the MEDLINE database. When the publisher's content
is subsequently viewed by a client, a click on a CiteLink
connects to Aries' Knowledge Web server, which then
delivers a Web page containing the corresponding MEDLINE record
to the client browser. Since the MEDLINE record is maintained
on the Knowledge Web server, any errata corrections
published by the National Library of Medicine are automatically
included whenever a CiteLink is activated by a client.
Clients may optionally request that
the MEDLINE record be saved to their local hard drive, in
a format compatible with most personal bibliography managers.
The client can also elect to conduct additional database searching
(at no cost to the publisher) from the Knowledge Web
server.
