Overview
The Unabridged MEDLINE database with Knowledge Finder® provides access to all of the content of the MEDLINE database published by the National Library of Medicine. The topically broad coverage of MEDLINE will appeal to researchers, clinicians, educators and students. The database is particularly suited to the reference needs of research institutions, health science and hospital libraries.

This product covers all current MEDLINE journal titles, and includes all English and non-English language MEDLINE citations. Most of the citations include abstracts. Unabridged MEDLINE is available on CD-ROM and via the internet using Aries' Knowledge Web®.

Features

Knowledge Finder offers you what may be the most advanced bibliographic retrieval technology available today. Your search statements can include sentence-style natural language queries - you don't need to learn a complex command language. Probabilistic indexing and retrieval algorithms find not only precise matches to your search request, but also "close" and "nearby" matches. Search results are ranked based upon likelihood of relevance to your request, reducing the amount of time you spend scanning search results. Expert search formulation tools simplify the searching process. Intelligent stemming and expansion of search words automatically increase the scope and retrieval of a search. On-screen controls let you define the degree of precision and recall to be applied to a search. You can use all Knowledge Finder retrieval and citation management tools with Unabridged MEDLINE.

Full MeSH Thesaurus

Unabridged MEDLINE includes a full implementation of the MeSH (Medical Subject Heading) vocabulary, including cross- references, hierarchical heading (Tree) structures, and "explosion" searching. Searchers familiar with the MeSH "Green Books" will find the Knowledge Finder MeSH Thesaurus a convenient and powerful alternative for identification of topical terms.

We've made searching the multiple discs about as easy as it can get. You formulate your search using any of the discs. When you're ready to search the next disc, simply eject your current disc, insert the next disc, and within a few seconds you're ready to search again. Your search strategy is saved automatically, and citations selected for printing or saving to hard disk are remembered from one CD-ROM disc to the next.

CD-ROM Edition
Complete MEDLINE coverage is now available on just 11 CD-ROM's with Knowledge Finder. Each CD-ROM contains between 2 and 7 years of MEDLINE. This lets you tailor chronological coverage to your specific need. Each backfile disc is recreated annually, using the latest MeSH¨ indexing from the National Library of Medicine. The current year disc is updated monthly or quarterly, cumulating all MEDLINE citations published year-to-date on a single disc.

Flexible CD-ROM Subscriptions

Unabridged MEDLINE for Knowledge Finder comes with a choice of time period covered, quarterly or monthly updates, and is available in personal, institutional or network subscriptions. All Unabridged MEDLINE subscriptions include the MeSH thesaurus, Knowledge Finder software and updates, documentation, and telephone support.

*Coverage includes the current and most recent prior years. 'Years of Coverage' and '# of Discs' applies to 2000 edition.
